Week Camps
Program
We achieve a balance between instruction and recreation, activity and relaxation as well as group and individual accomplishment. This makes each day enjoyable as well as exciting.
Campers attend 4 instructional periods and 3 supervised free times each day as a cabin group. One of these periods each day exposes children to the YMCA Swim Lessons. Children also have 2 supervised free times each day where they may choose from activities including; swimming, rock-climbing, archery, crafts, and various other sports and games.
One day of each week is devoted to the theme for the week. Children participate in a wide array of activities revolving around the theme for the week. Staff Members adorn costumes and prepare for an exciting and memorable day!
We try to make the most of every moment. Our program is an experience in community living, where all children must pitch in and do their part. This is the type of environment where character blooms and children find themselves. Parents often comment on the sense of responsibility their children have after arriving home.

Leader In Training Program
The Leader in Training Program provides a chance for teens to enjoy all that Camp Kenan has to offer through service, adventure, and character development. Campers who are 15 years of age prior to date attending camp can participate in this two-week special program for teens. At the beginning of this two-week session, the L.I.T.s set their own schedule as a group. Activities will have an emphasis on teambuilding, character development, advanced camping skills, and FUN. Camp service projects, a two-day kayak and hiking trip, and the opportunity to lead evening program activities are examples of special activities reserved for these teens. This is a great program to help teens begin the transition from camper to counselor. Spots are limited for this program and fill up quickly!

Counselor In Training Program
We place great emphasis on developing our future staff members with an exceptional C.I.T. Program. Campers who are 16 years of age prior to date attending camp or who have completed our L.I.T. Program may apply for this special 3 - week program. Our program provides formal training for young adults who enjoy camping and working with children. Camp Kenan is proud to provide this program at a discounted rate. More than half of our current staff members have completed both the L.I.T. and C.I.T. programs. Early registration is important for this program because the application process may take time and spots are limited to ensure the highest quality instruction and experience for all participants.
Note: This is a selective program. All applicants must apply in person at the Lockport YMCA. Weeks are in successive order but all participants go home every Saturday and return on Sunday.
