A rewarding, quality summer experience can provide one of the most precious and exciting memories in a child's Life. Sending your child to camp, especially for the very first time is an important decision. We would like to share some thoughts with you about what makes YMCA Camp Kenan so special.

Since 1924, YMCA Camp Kenan has been renowned for providing a positive impact on children. We limit the number of campers each season to ensure a caring, family atmosphere where each child is known and treated as an individual. Within this environment, children develop improved self-confidence, learn to work cooperatively with others, and gain a strong sense of responsibility and independence.

An endowment fund established by the late philanthropist, Dr. William Rand Kenan allows us to keep the cost of camp extremely low for your child. We are proud to say that we are the least expensive resident camp recognized by the American Camping Association. This is the highest honor any camp's facilities, staff, and programs can receive.

At YMCA Camp Kenan your child will develop a greater appreciation for the environment, make many new friends, and leave with memories that will last a lifetime. Camp Kenan Open House
You are invited to come take a guided tour of Camp Kenan. Find out all about camp and get a chance to see our beautiful facilities and meet our excellent staff. You can even sample some of our delicious camp food!

Slide Show Presentation
Get a group of 10 interested Campers and Parents together and we will come to your house or venue and do a presentation including a slide show and question and answer session. To schedule a visit, contact the Camp Kenan office at (716) 795-3031.

Informational Meetings
Have questions about camp?
Parents, attend one of our informational meetings at the Lockport Family YMCA. Find out all about Camp Kenan and our programs. The Camp Director will be present to answer questions and show slides about Camp Kenan. Refreshments will be provided. Register your child after the meeting and receive the Camp Kenan Gift Pack. The Gift Pack includes one coupon for $10 off each week registered, a $5 Camp Kenan script book, and a Camp Kenan T-shirt.

Health & Safety
Safety is our primary goal during your child's stay with us. Children are allowed free time but are always under a counselor's supervision. Camp Kenan meets the strictest requirements for YMCA Resident Camps, maintains accreditation by the American Camping Association and is inspected annually by the Niagara County Health Department.
A registered nurse or Emergency Medical Technician lives on site, and our infirmary is equipped to care for temporary illness and accommodate overnight stays if necessary. Hospital facilities in Newfane, NY are less than 10 minutes away.

Food & Nutrition
A balanced diet is a very important part of any camp experience. The camp's gourmet chef serves three well-balanced meals each day. Lunch and dinner are both accompanied with a 15-item salad bar for all of our campers. Vegetarian selections are made readily available by our chef. Please let us know if you have any dietary concerns. Parents and special guests are even invited to sample our chefs cooking at our pick-up barbecues that take place each Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
